祭りも終わったチェンマイの街。今日のヨメはバイクの女。街から見える山の上にあるお寺「ワット プラタート ドーイステープ(長い)」まで、グラサンかけて颯爽と走る。12月間近のチェンマイは、それでも日中暑いのだけれど、山の道は涼しくて気持ち良い。何回か道を間違いながら着いた頂上のお寺は素晴らしく、黄金の塔が光り、意外なほどタイの人々が熱心にお参りしていた。お経を唱えながら塔の周りを3週まわる。僕らもやってみる。なんだかちょっと心が落ち着くのがいい。当たり前だけれど、タイに来てから、やたら仏教に触れる機会が多い。ものすごく新鮮なようにも感じるけれど、やっぱりなんだか安心する。いいなぁアジア。
DAY624 : A MOTORCYCLE RIDE TO A TEMPLE ON A MOUNTAIN
So the party was over in Chiang Mai and we took off on a motorcycle to the temple on top of the mountain, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep by my wife's driving. It was almost December, still hot during the day but cool in the mountains. Though we got lost several times, the temple with the golden tower was shiny and great looking with more enthusiasm of the visitors than we expected. They chanted and walked around the tower three times. We copied and it was kind of soothing. Not to mention, buddhism was just everywhere in Thailand which felt somehow fresh to us and comfortable at the same time.
