アルガンオイルを作りにいこう、1日目。まるで田舎のおばあちゃんちで過ごす夏休みのような、そんな素敵な日々の初日。バブーシュ工房の映像からずっとお世話になりっぱなしの、エリドリッシーさん一家にお誘い頂いて、ご実家へお邪魔させていただくことに。「ティズギー」という、20家族ほどが住む小さな山村へ、超仲良しのユセフと共に向かう。彼もこのご一家の次男。マラケシュから南へバスで山脈を越え、車をチャーターし、未舗装の道を進みさらに山を越える。アルガンの木と山々に囲まれたティズギーでは、昔ながらの手法でアルガンオイルを作っていて、夏のシーズンの今がちょうど、収穫の時期なのだそうだ。実のなるアルガンを横目にようやく村に着くと、おじいちゃんとおばあちゃんが迎えてくれた。山の斜面に並ぶ土レンガの、モロッコ昔ながらの家々の一つが、ご実家だった。意味不明な日本人夫婦を物凄く暖かく迎えてくれ、次から次へと色んな食べ物が出てくる。果物も野菜もヤギの肉も、全部この村で採れたものばかりらしい。電気は通ってるが水道はなく、女性や子供たちがポリタンクを持って、山の湧き水まで汲みに行く。村全体が一つの家族みたいで、みんなが皆顔なじみのようだ。初日の僕らは、村をぐるりと案内してもらい、熟れた果物を捥ぎ、疲れては昼寝をし、また村を歩くのを繰り返し夕日を迎えた。アルガンオイル作りの気配はまだ感じられなかったが、とにかく素敵な日々の始まり。

DAY 601 : SUMMER HOLIDAY IN ARGAN VILLAGE - DAY 1
Let's go make argan oil, day 1. It feels like the beginning of one fine summer holidays at grandma's in the countryside. We were invited to our friend's family home in the small mountain village called Tizgui. Yusef, the second child of this family, and I met last time I was in Morocco and I made a promotion video for the babouche factory. There are only about 20 families lives in this village. We took a bus down southward from Marrakesh to go to the other side of the mountain range, and then transferred to a private van to go rough dirt roads deeper in the mountains. Surrounded by argan trees and mountains, the villagers make argan oil using traditional method and were in the middle of picking season. Through argan trees heavy with fruits, we finally arrived at the village with a warm welcome from Yusef's grandparents. Their home was one of the traditional Moroccan brick houses on the mountain slope. They treated a strange Japanese couple like us with so much hospitality and food. Everything from goat meat to fruits and vegetables are made in the village. They have electricity but no running water, women and children with plastic bottles go take some from the mountain spring. The whole village is like one big family, everyone knows everyone else. On the day we arrived, they gave us a trip around the village, plucking fruits and taking a nap, until the sunset time. It was the beginning of wonderful days.
