カサブランカから、早速マラケシュへ。３時間ほどの電車からの景色は、地中海性気候からステップ気候へと変わっていく様が顕著で、これがまた面白い。風景が緑の牧草地帯から荒っぽい砂漠へと変わっていく。車窓にヤシの木が見えだしたころ、マラケシュに到着。以前に数ヶ月居座ったこの街、やっぱり懐かしい。基本的にいつも初めて訪れる場所を転々とするバックパック旅では、同じ場所に戻ってくるというのは少ない。その分、来たことある場所へと戻ってきたりすると、帰って来たぞーと気分は盛り上がったりする。予約の電話をする際、「スズキ」と名乗れば全てが通じてしまうほどの定宿に向う途中、昔通っていた商店のおじさんと感動の再会。覚えていてくれて、しかも再会を喜んでもらえるのは、本当に嬉しい。宿のおじさんともさらなる感動の再会をし、昔と同じ部屋に荷物をおろす。ほっとする。
DAY 592 : BACK IN MARRAKESH
We left Casablanca for Marrakesh. For about three hours of train ride, we enjoyed a changing view from the green grassland of Mediterranean climate to the harsh dessert of steppe climate. As soon as palm trees started to appear, we arrived Marrakesh. We felt back home in this city since we, as backpackers, rarely go back to the same place again. Feeling excited to be back on the way to the familiar hotel where "Suzuki" means us on the reservation call, we reunited with the familiar guy from the store we used to go everyday. Not just the fact that he remembered us, but also that he was so happy to see us again meant so much to us. Even more happily reunited with the hotel owner, we felt at home in the same room we used to stay.
