ブルームフォンテーンの素敵宿。まだまだ残るアパルトヘイトの名残なのか、白人と黒人の住むゾーンははっきりと分かれていて、ダウンタウンを歩いているのは黒人。治安も悪く、白人たちが住むエリアは郊外で同じ国かと思うほど綺麗に整備されていて、まだ割と安全。ブルームフォンテーンのこの宿は、白人の住むエリアのゲストハウスで、やっぱり街中の安宿とは何かが違う。南アの白人たちはこういうプール付きの家に住んでいるのかとちょっと羨ましくも、街中でビッグファミリーでアパートに暮らす黒人と比べてみて何だかちょっと複雑な気持ちになる。

A nice guest house in Bloemfontain. As it may be the remnant from the days of apartheid, there is a definitive border between the white residence and the black. Downtown area is poorly secured and occupied with the black people. In comparison, the clean and secured suburban area is well prepared for the white people. The guest house is located in the white neighborhood and apparently things are different from the cheap motels in downtown. I felt a bit jealous with the white people in South Africa living in the nice houses facilitated with pools. But at the same time, the comparison between them and the big black families living in apartments in downtown somehow shook my emotion.
