もうホントぎりぎりのシェンゲン協定ビザの期限に焦り、早々にスロベニアを出国する。ブレッドの街から電車に乗り、隣国クロアチアへ。それこそシェンゲン協定の前はヨーロッパ中であったであろう、電車での国境越え。今回初めて、それを味合うことができてちょっと嬉しかった。バスで入国と出国の国境をそれぞれ抜けるのも楽しいけれど、二つの国の管理官が順番に座席まで来てスタンプを押してくれるのは、なんだか味があっていい。世界の車窓からのテーマ曲がリフレインする。そして列車は、クロアチアの首都ザクレブへ。シェンゲン協定外だが、EUの最新加盟国であるこの国、パッと見はまさにヨーロッパ。驚くほど天井の高いair bnbで借りた部屋に陣取り、ビザに焦らない旅に戻る。
DAY659 : TO ZAGREB, CROATIA
Running out of Schengen Agreement Visa, we rushed our way out of Slovenia. From the town of Bled, we took a train to a neighbor country, Croatia. Crossing the boarder on a train, which I guess was popular before the Schengen Agreement, for the first time, instead of passing the gates in/out of countries by buss, it was kind of fun. Two officials, one from each of two countries, came to our seats to give us permission stamps. It was like the travel programs we used to see on TV. The train arrived at Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia which is the latest EU member but outside the Schengen Agreement territory, with the look and feel of Europe. We rented a room via airbnb with very high ceiling. No more rush on visa expiration.
