オランダでは曇りの日が多くて気がつかなかったけれど、冬のヨーロッパはホントに太陽が低い。一日中、陽が傾いているように思え、正午でも影が長い。陽の光が弱いからかすべての色が薄く見えて、美術館に浅い色の絵ばかりなのも、なんだか納得した。シュトゥットガルトの街はオランダに比べると現代的で、都会。大きな街ではないけれど、メルセデスやポルシェの本社がある世界都市らしい。そして、この街での僕らの(ヨメの)目当ては、クリスマスマーケット。ヨーロッパ各地の中でも最大級のこのマーケット、今日はちょっと宿に用事があるので、とりあえずチラ見。でもチラ見でも鬼のように可愛い。明日ゆっくり見に来よう。ヨメのテンションは上がりっぱなし。
DAY632 : A WALK IN STUTTGART
Because it was mostly cloudy in Holland, I never realized how low the sun is in the winter time in Europe. It feels like the sun is going down all day, casting long shadows even at noon. No wonder the paintings I saw at the museums are in pale colors because of the weak sunlights. Stuttgart seemed more modern and urban compared to Holland. It is not a large city but has head quarters of companies like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. We came here for the christmas market which is one of the biggest in Europe. Just passing by for the day, we couldn't keep our eyes off. We were so excited that we have to come back tomorrow.
