夜行バスに乗って、チェンマイから首都バンコクへ。十数年ぶりのバンコクは、トゥクトゥクが減り、ボッタくらない健全なメータータクシーが走っていた。あのトゥクトゥクの、独特な排気ガスの匂いがちょっと好きだったので、残念なような気もする。タクシーの車窓から眺めていると、セブンイレブンの二軒隣にファミリーマートが並んでたり、横浜家系ラーメンの看板が見えたり、日本がちらほら見える。道路も左側通行だし、走っているのは日本車ばかりだし、一瞬わからなくなってしまう。そして今日の宿は、カオサンロードから少し離れた、ちょっといい宿。と言っても、二人ので一泊２千円。アジア物価万歳。でもバンコク滞在は二日間だけ。ヨーロッパに戻ります。
DAY625 : ARRIVING IN BANGKOK
Another express night buss from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. In the past 10 years or so since last time I was here, many of the tuku-tuku had been gone and there were more taxies with fair rate which made me a bit sentimental. I kind of liked the smell of tuku-tuku fumes. As I looked out the taxi window, there were many Japanese imports such as convenience stores like seven-eleven and family mart next to each other, and a sign of ramen shop. Above that, majority of vehicles are Japanese cars and drove left on the road. Quite comfusing where I was. Still, the nice hotel we are staying tonight, blocks away from Khaosan road, is only 2,000 yen for two of us. Reasonable. We stay here for two nights and will go back to Europe.
