ヨーロッパ西の端ポルトの街から、花の都パリへ。1500km20時間のバスの旅。見落としそうな看板だけの国境を越えて、スペインに入ると少し街並みが変わった。ポルトガル特有の、オレンジ屋根の家がなくなり、ちょっとだけ現代風な家が増える。ちょっとだけ都会になった気がする。一晩明けてフランスに入ると、今度は大きく街並みは変わった。より洗練されたような、綺麗に手入れされているような、風景が整えられているような気がした。さすがおフランスとなんて思いながら「ピレネー山脈を越えたらアフリカ」というのも、ちょっと頷ける気がした。そして、おパリ市内。結論から言うと、オシャレすぎる。街に入った瞬間からワクワクしっぱなしだった。花の都とはこのことかと思った。いろんな街を転々としてきたけれど、ここまで僕がテンション上がった街は初めてかもしれない。
DAY 620 FROM THE WEST END TO THE CITY OF LOVE
We headed from the Portuguese town at the west end of Europe to the city of love, Paris. 1500km of buss trip for 20 hours. After crossing the unnoticeable boarder between Portugal and Spain, there was a slight change in cityscape. No more orange rooftops, I found modern houses instead which made it feel more urban. And then it changed dramatically over night after we cross the French boarder. More neat, clean and elegant. The more I was impressed by France, the more it sounds convincing that "Africa begins at the Pyrenees". And then, Paris. Jumping to conclusion, too stylish. I was so excited as soon as I arrive and realize that I was in the city of love. Among all the places I'd been, I was definitely the most excited in Paris.
