アスワンから少しナイルを上流に向かった先に、ナセル大統領が作ったアスワンダムがある。ダムによってできた湖は"ナセル湖"という名前が付いているように、古代から氾濫してきたナイル川をコントロールするこのダムを作った功績は大きく、カイロにはナセル大統領の博物館まである。そんなナイル川の湖の対岸は、次なる国、スーダンとの国境に迫る。地味に長くなったエジプト滞在もそろそろ終わりが近づいて、僕らはスーダンのビザを取得しに、領事館へと彷徨う。馬車とタクシーを駆使して。
DAY 560 : TO GET A SUDAN VISA
Situated across the Nile in Aswan, the Aswan High Dam significantly controls the water of the frequently flooded Nile water. Planned and executed by the Nasser government, the contribution was so remarkable that they named the reservoir "the Nasser Lake" and build the Nasser Museum in Cairo. On the other side of the lake, there is the border between Egypt and Sudan, our next destination. Our long stay in Egypt is coming to an end. We are heading to the Sudan Consulate to attain a visa by carriages and taxis.
