ルクソールは、遺跡だらけ。街の真ん中にはルクソール神殿。ナイル川沿いを少し歩けば、カルナック神殿。ここ、結構面白い。太い柱が何本もならんで大迫力だったり、オベリスクがまっすぐに立っていたり、未だ色の残る壁画があったり、広めの敷地の中、ヨメが縦横無尽に歩き回る。とはいえ復元されているのはまだ中央部だけで、あたりにはヒエログリフが彫られた岩が並べられていて、パズルのように積み上げられるのを待っている。当時を再現した復元後の場所と、まだ手付かずの場所、両方見られるのが個人的には面白かった。
DAY 552 : TEMPLE OF KARNAK
We found monuments everywhere in Luxor. Luxor Temple right in the middle of the town, Temple of Karnak along the Niles. It is very entertaining. There are big fat columns, an obelisk standing straight and still colorful fresco painting on the walls. My wife walked around freely in the site, it seemed only the center part has been restored and there were piles of blocks and stones with hieroglyphs in other areas. The contrast between the two, restored and untouched, was interesting to see.
