ヨハネスブルグから50kmぐらいの都市、プレトリア。危ない危険治安悪いとウワサ高いヨハネスを避け、多くの旅行者はこの街を拠点にするとかしないとか。じゃぁ安全なのかこの首都は、と思いきや、入っちゃいけないゾーンに近づくと、じわじわと雰囲気が悪くなってくる。悪名高いウワサからの僕の危険地帯のイメージは、あの北斗の拳の世界観で、さぞふざけた時代が待っているのかと思っていたのだけれど、バスで通り過ぎたヨハネスもここプレトリアの入っちゃいけないゾーンも、そこまでのモノではなかった。もちろん普通のご家族もたくさん住んでいるはずなのだし、よほどの内戦にならない限り無法地帯にはならないんだろうなぁと勉強になった。ただ、ダーバンという街の入っちゃいけないゾーンで、セメント被った白い子どもたちが呆然と歩いているのを見たときはチョットひいた。
About 50km from Johannesburg which is known as a dangerous city for its poor security, many travelers stay in Pretoria as their base town. However this well known safe city changes its expression once I approach the deeper zone. Aside from my own anime-oriented impression of dangerous zone, neither Johannesburg nor the deep zone of Pretoria didn't surprise me much. I figured that there must be a lot of families living in and a city wouldn't go lawless unless it was in a serious civil war. Nevertheless it kind of blew me when I saw children covered with white cement walking unconscious in the deep area of the city, Durban.
