旅761日目 : イスタンブールの秘密の場所
見所いっぱいのイスタンブールを毎日歩きまわる。この街は面白い。ふらふらと歩いていると、不思議な場所に出くわす。僕らはちょっとした機材を買いに電気街へ向かったあと、エジプシャンバザールというキラキラした市場を抜けて道に迷い、適当に商店街の小道を上ってみた。古そうなモスクを通り抜けた行き止まりに、ボロボロの建物の上に登れる階段がある。上って良いものか迷っていると、モスク帰りのおじさんが上がれと促してくれる。上った途端、目の前が一気に開けた。イスタンブールが一望でき、向かいの新市街が目の前。巨大なモスクがいくつも見え、ちょうどアザーンがなっていた。この廃墟の屋上のような場所は、クッションを置いて小さなカフェになっているらしい。屋根はない。看板もないけれど、絶景がある。チャイとコーヒーが飲み放題のその青空カフェは、これまでイスタンブールを歩きまくった中で１番の場所だった。この廃墟のオーナーだという人が、その場所をしきりに説明してくれる。その屋上にある四角い建物はメッカにある黒い立方体「カアバ」と同じ大きさだとか、建物の一帯は市場で昼間すごい人だが夜は人が一人もいなくなる、なぜだかわかるか？とか。正直よく分からなかったけれど、夕日をみて建物から降りたあと、降りた周りの市場には本当に誰一人いなくなっていて、僕らは何だかよく分からずに、迷いながら宿へと帰った。
DAY761 : MY SECRET SPOT IN ISTANBUL
I spent everyday walking in Istanbul. There are just so much to see and it's simply fun. Wandering around, it takes me to a special place. After we shopped for some mechanicals in the electronic district, we passed through a sparkling market called Egyptian Bazaar, got lost and so just went up along an alley which we found off the arcade. We hit the end after passing through an old mosque and found stairs to the rooftop of an old building. An old man came out of the mosque and pushed us to go up. At the top, it was an open view of the whole city with the new town right in the front. The adhan was calling from many gigantic mosques. At the rooftop of the abandoned building, they put pillows and made it like a caffe. No roof, no sign but an astonishing view. They offer free cups of chai and coffee. It was one of the best spot I found in Istanbul. The owner explained about the space that the old square building is exact same size as the black cube in Mecca, Kaʻaba, and asked us if we knew why the market is empty at night despite busy at daytime. Without an answer, after the sunset we headed our way down the building into the market where we found really no one. Then we went back losing our way to the hotel.
