旅759日目 : 母に勧めるイスタンブール
トルコという国の漠然としたイメージは今まであったけれど、やっぱ実際に来て、歩いてみないとわからないものだなと感じたイスタンブール滞在初日。EUへの加盟交渉を続けているこの国の都会っぷりは、ほぼヨーロッパ。そこにイスラムのテイストとアジアのワイワイした感じが入って、他には無い雰囲気を持っている、面白い街。英語が通じなくとも何とかなってしまうほど人々は本当に親切で、ワイワイしているけど落ち着いているように思う。しつこい客引きもいなければ、壮絶な値段交渉もいらない。旅する上でその国の一つの指針になると僕らが思っている「観光客のタクシーの運賃」は、メーターでキッチリ決められ非常に安心して利用できる。トルコリラの暴落もあってか、物価も安めに感じるし、治安の不安も今のところ感じない。人口も8000万人を超え、もし加盟したらEUで一番人口の多い国になるトルコ、この先かなり発展していくんじゃ無いかと思う。街を歩いていて目の当たりにする観光客の多さが物語るように、とても旅を楽しめる国だと思う。間違いなくウチのお母ちゃんは楽しめる。釣りもできるよ。
DAY759 : ISTANBUL, A MUST-GO FOR MY MOM
My blurry impression of Turkey came clear by actually coming here and walking around on the first day in Istanbul. Turkey's enthusiasm for membership in the European Union appears how urban and European it is. In addition to that, the city is a mixture of Islamic and hectic Asian taste. Quite Unique. People are so friendly and kind that we felt common language was not even necessary to communicate, also somehow busy and calm at the same time. No high-pressure street solicitation, nor severe price negotiation required. It passes one of our own trip guidelines of whether taxi fare is officially determined and notified. The currency rate seems relatively reasonable possibly because of the fall of Turkish lira. With a population of eighty million which indicates the highest populated country in EU if they acquire a membership, Turkey has potential to develop so much in the future. As we can see with the numbers of travelers on street, it definitely is one of the must-go countries that I can recommend even to my mom. Fishing is also available.
