ふたつのナイルがひとつになる場所。コレちょっとイイ。響きカッコイイ。タンザニアとエチオピアから流れてきた白ナイルと青ナイル、この二つのナイル川が、ここハルツームで合流する。そこからひたすら砂漠を潤し、エジプトを突っ切り、地中海へと流れていく。10の国をまたぎ、アフリカ大陸の半分を縦断し、世界最古の文明の源となったこの偉大な川のドラマな場所に立つと、心震え涙流れる。実際にその場所まで船で行ってみると、ふたつの川の色は同じに見え、渦が巻いているだけに見えてしまうけれども、大切なのは気持ちだと思う。
DAY 567 : WHERE THE TWO NILES MEET
Where the two niles meet. How nice and cool it sounds. The white Nile from Tanzania and the blue Nile from Ethiopia merge here in Khartoum. From here, it runs in the dessert all the way through Egypt into Mediterranean Sea. The river which had been the water resource for 10 different countries traveling a half of the African Continent and is indeed the oldest cultural origin of the earth history. Standing right where the drama happened makes me shed some tears. We took the boat to the exact spot. The two rivers are probably the same color and just swirling. What matters is how you feel.
