アフリカの旅はいつもまちぼうけ。今日はマシシェからシモイヨまでの長距離移動。本来なら9時間ほどで着く距離なのに、何回も何回も理由もわからないままバスが停まり、そもそも到着の時刻からして数時間遅れ、結局早朝から始まった移動は日付をまたいでやっとの到着となった。ここ東アフリカより西側のほうが更に悲惨で、バスの出発に数日待たされることもあるとかないとか。いつもそんな時に思うのが、現地の人たちはそんなに騒がずに、ちゃんと待つんだなあということ。遅れるのが普通だと受け入れているかもしれないけれど、なんだかんだ言いながら大人しく待っている。日本とは時間の流れ方が全然違うんだなと、こんな時にあらためて思う。
Traveling in Africa always makes us waiting in vain. We were on a long distance bus ride from Maxixe to Chimoio usually takes about 9 hours. The bus made many unexpected stops, departed a few hours later than the schedule to begin with, and after all day driving from the early morning, we finally arrived the next day. The situation is worse in the west side than here in the east Africa, sometimes a bus wouldn't start for days. What surprises me is that the locals wait. They wait for long. Possibly because they are used to it. Then I realize again time flows different from it does in Japan.
