サニパス(サニトップ)はレソトの東の端。南アフリカとの国境の、標高3000m近い絶壁の上にある、小さな、本当に小さな村。店も何もなく、レソトの伝統的な家がイミグレーションのそばに2,30軒ほどあるだけであとは山と雲と平原。ヨーロッパを旅している頃から、出会った旅人にこの場所のウワサを聞くことが幾度となくあり、やっと来ることができた。モコトロンから人犇めくミニバスに揺られて３時間。村の一員になれるかものごとく、ポツンポツンとふたつのテントを立てて、いざ、数日間のサニパス生活楽しみだ。
The bar located the highest in Africa. There is nothing else in this village but this wonderful accommodating facilities for which white tourists on 4 wheel drive from South Africa would visit just to breath good air and leave. Cottages with a fire place, wi-fi and electricity are provided and gorgeous foods served at this wonderful place, Sani Mountain Lodge. Anyhow, our bed is in the middle of the village, a 15 minutes walk away. Spending a night and thinking it was a huge mistake to sleep in a summer tent at 3000m elevation, I sweared to myself to stay at the cottage one day. FYI, hot shower and kitchen is available even for tent users. No worries if you have sleeping bags. If you don't, I recommend the dormitory.
