レソトの音楽 in マレアレアロッジ。この国を旅している最中いろんな場所でこんな感じの音楽を聴いたので、おそらくレソトの音楽なのだと思う。ちょっとかけ声のような歌と、その間に入るラップみたいな違うような早口でまくしたてる箇所との繰り返しで、ラップ調の部分でダンサーが前に来て肩をクイクイして踊る。僕らが聴いたのはどれもこんな感じで、歌詞の意味が分からないから、全部同じ曲に聞こえてしまった。この演奏している若者たちは周辺に住む村人で、日替わりで2組ずつ演奏してドネーションを募る。おそらくこのマレアレアロッジの地域貢献の一環で、宿のスタッフも皆この辺りに人のようだし、他にも辺りの村にゴミ箱を設置したり色々しているようだ。1900年ごろに、白人の男性が移り住んでから続くこのマレアレアロッジ。観光客を呼んで、それをこの電気も無い小さな村々に還元している姿をみて、なんだかいいなと思った。

The dancers come in front and dance at the rap part shaking their shoulders. All the songs we heard sounded kind of the same since we don't understand the lyrics. These performers are the youth in the neighboring village. Two groups par day, changes every other day and ask for donations. This is part of the local contribution activities of Malealea Lodge that also hires local people to work and provide disposals to the neighbor villages. Since some white men migrated around 1900 and established the lodge, they call tourists in and pay back to the local area. A nice system.
